With Intel’s Alder Lake almost universally impressing, many Team Red fans have been on tenterhooks waiting for AMD to release its Zen 4-based Ryzen. AMD's decision to launch the Ryzen 7000 Raphael series of CPUs early has supposedly stemmed from Alder Lake's stellar success. The leak, which comes from Chinese microblogging site Weibo, claims that the follow-up to AMDs Zen 4-based Ryzen 7000 (Raphael) mainstream desktop CPUs will be the Ryzen 8000 series, codenamed. The next generation of AMD’s CPUs with Zen 5 architecture aren't expected until 2024, but a new benchmark leak suggests they'll be well worth. OEMs have already begun churning out AM5 motherboard samples, as well. These Zen 5 benchmarks scores are very promising. The full announcement will happen in Q3, 2022, with sales shortly after, with one estimate prophesizing that the processors could hit shelves as early as July 2022. However, Greymon55 says that AMD could let some information about the processor slip at Computex 2022, scheduled between May 24 and May 27. Given AMD's focus on Zen, we are pretty sure that the Zen 4-based Phoenix will. The real upgrade is slated to arrive in the form of the Zen 4-based Ryzen 7000 series, confirmed by AMD head honcho Dr Lisa Su herself. AMD's Zen 4 cores are designed for TSMC's N5 node, whereas the company's RDNA 3 GPUs are rumored to use N5 and/or N6.
